Sometimes you have to look beyond the tips to see what really works for you and your blog. Today I'm going to share my tips on how to approach PR agencies/brands! Scroll down to read more...

Okay so if you're wondering how certain bloggers can get to Fashion Week or how certain bloggers get products to review... the answer is quite simple. Most invites for shows/events and products or services or provided by PR agencies. You have brands that do their own PR. If that's the case, it might be easier to contact them directly but moreover the brands work with PR agencies to get their brand image exposed.  Okay so how do you find the PR agencies?

1. Finding PR agencies is as easy as ABC. All you need is Google. You just have to type in ''pr agencies'' and the country behind it so that you can have a list of all the PR agencies in your city or country. Just go over a few links and check the brands that they work for. I find it very important to find PR agencies that fit with your blog. It's unnecessary to be emailing all the PR agencies out there for the sake to be on one of their press list. Be selective and find a reason why you would like to go for these particular PR agencies.

2. After you've selected several PR's you want to work with, it's also good to do some research. Learn about the brands that they work with, what is the image of this particular PR agency, do they work with bloggers and so on.

3. Now you can start emailing them.  I remember when I was writing my first email to a PR agency. I seriously didn't know what to write hahaha. When I wrote something, questions ran through my mind like ''Am I sounding too needy?'' ''This is boring'' ''Would they even like my blog?'' ''Why would they, I'm don't have a lot of followers.'' Listen everyone! Don't doubt yourself! Be confident and email them! So what should be in your email?
      • Introduce yourself: Write down how you would introduce yourself as if you came across a co-blogger at an event. Be you. Don't try to be anyone else. Also mention why you started blogging & what makes your blog unique. Many of us write about fashion / beauty / travel and lifestyle. That's cool but try to mention how you are giving different twist to these topics!
      • Come up with an idea: Why are you emailing them? What did you have in mind? For example reviews, giveaways, event hosting, interviews or collaboration. Just be to the point. For example let's say you want to try a lipstick from Bobbi Brown. Let them know why and how you're planning to do it. Not just ''Hi I want to try out this lipstick, is it possible to get it send to me.'' Hmm that wouldn't be an approach I would go for. It's pretty random. Think about it, why would they?! Try not to ask for free products/services right away. Just start of with a negotiation/idea that you have in mind.
      • Add a media kit: I must say that I made a media kit since a few months ago. Previously I didn't have one because I didn't know why it was used for actually. For those who don't know what a media kit is, it's a document which includes a small section about you / your blog statistics / services that you offer / your experiences. You are totally free to design it the way you want to and what you want to include in it. This is very handy because most of the time, PR agencies or brands will ask you about your statistics. How easy is it to just send one file which contains every information they need to know about your blog! I do attach a media kit straight away when I start drafting the email that I'm about to send. It also shows that you're taking your blog to a next level. I do recommend you to have a media kit.
4. I want you to be aware that from the emails you've sent off, you won't always get respond to all of them. That's just reality. They might have read it, they might have not. If you get a respond, it won't always be the respond you're hoping for. Don't let it hold you back to approach other PR agencies that you think fit with you blog. On to the next one honey!
