Hi guys, welcome back to another article on It’s True Blog. This time I want to take you guys on a trip to discover more about Ireland. Today I want to show you some images on my Day Tour To The Wicklow Mountains.
Last weekend, my younger sister came to visit me and we decided to go on a trip to discover more of what’s outside the capital city Dublin. I have been recommended several to visit the Wicklow Mountains and the lakes at Glendalough. So I purchased the day tickets online and off we went to discover that part of Ireland.
1 -Wicklow Mountains & Glendalough Upper Lake
We did this tour with a popular tour bus in Ireland. The bus collected us in the city centre of Dublin at 9.00 am. I can’t fully remember how long the journey was because the driver was feeding us with very interesting historical facts while we were driving towards the Wicklow mountains. I think we got to the Wicklow Mountains around 10.30/10.45 am. We were lucky to have had such a gorgeous weather so the driver decided to give us more time to spend at Wicklow. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous. The view and all the nature most have been one of the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen. I was literally in awe the landscape. Just look at the snaps we got from our trip below.
We arrived at the Glendalough’s Monastic Site where we got to see ancient buildings that were built around the 6th century. This was very interesting but as we were running out of time, we rushed to the Upper Lake to see the best of Glendalough’s view. The distance between the Monastic Site and the Upper lake is about 1.4 km which is about 20 mins walk if you’re walking in a fast pace. It was a bit unfortunate that my sister and I didn’t manage to stay there and enjoy the view because we had to rush back to grab our bus as the driver told us that he would continue the journey even if we weren’t on time. Boy, you should have seen us. I was sweating like crazy hahaha. But I’m very happy that we managed to go and see the Upper Lake. I definitely recommend everyone NOT to skip this part of the journey cause it’s literally breathtaking.
2 – The Kilkenny Castle
After visiting the Wicklow National Park we went off to a little town called Kilkenny which lies in the southeast of Ireland. Kilkenny is a medieval town where you will find the Kilkenny Castle which was built in 1195. I didn’t really know what to expect of Kilkenny but I must say it’s a beautiful small town with loads of colors. It’s completely different from Dublin. As we were hungry, we grabbed something to eat and we went for quick stroll in the city centre. We were given just 2 hours to explore Kilkenny so we didn’t manage to actually enter the Kilkenny Castle. That sucked because it looked so stunning from the outside. And the garden behind it, is huge.. and I mean huge! Kilkenny is definitely worth the visit as well when you’re in Ireland!
So that was my day tour to the Wicklow mountains, Glendalough and Kilkenny. What do you think of the place? Would it be somewhere you would like to visit?
