Hi guys, welcome back to It’s True Blog. Just want to give you a little reminder to sign up for the newsletter below so that you know exactly when there’s a new article on the blog. As the title already mentions, today I’m going to show you the e.l.f. cosmetics skin care products you need to try today / review.
A little background
So if you don’t know about e.l.f. cosmetics, it’s an American cosmetics brand based in New York. It was founded back in 2004. The brand started off with just 13 products and now the brand has over 300 products. The most intriguing thing is, is that it launches new products every single week on their website. You might wonder what the initials stand for, it stands for eyes, lips and face. According to the brand, the products are all 100% cruelty-free. The products that I’m going review below are free from parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
e.l.f. cosmetics has recently been launched in Ireland where it’s sold in several drugstores which is fantastic news! As for my British readers, I think they recently launched it in the UK aswell where you can find it at Superdrug!
So this is the first time trying e.l.f. products. I had a tiny bit of an idea of the brand by watching a vlog from Patricia Bright where she was unboxing several e.l.f. products. But besides that I had absolutely no idea what to expect. So this the first part of the skin care review as there are still some few products left that I need to try and form my opinion on. So let’s have a look at the following 5 e.l.f. Cosmetics products.
1. Daily hydration moisturizer
I use day creams every single day because if I don’t my face becomes so so dry! I’m always looking for one that hydrates my face perfectly but doesn’t leave it oily. The e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer has a texture which is not too light not too thick. I currently only use it in the morning. You simply just need tiny bit for your face and neck and the pump enables you to use just the right amount. The moisturizer consists of the key ingredients such as shea butter, jojoba, aloe, vitamin E and cucumber. It’s a good moisturizer and it absorbs immediately into my skin which is good.
The packaging comes in a tube shape which I love because it makes it easy to travel with as well (75ml). I personally love the baby blue color to this skin care line. It screams clean, fresh and nourishing to me in a way hahah. The only thing that I would recommend the brand is to actually write on the packaging for which skin types this moisturizer is suitable for. I currently assume it’s for all skin types…
2. Hydrating gel mask with the Pore Refining Brush & Mask Tool
I’ve only tried the Hydrating Gel Mask just once so it’s kind of hard for me to say if I actually like it or not. This mask is basically like a cream. So it’s not your ordinary mask that would dry up. The texture remains how it is and after a few minutes you can wash it off. I personally didn’t see a lot of change in smoothness to my face but as I said I’ve only tried this mask just once. So maybe I should try it a couple few times to actually to see whether it works for my skin or not. What I do like is the Pore Refining Brush & Mask Tool. What I find annoying when I apply mask is that the mask gets into my cuticles and nails and at times it so hard to get it off. With the Pore Refining Brush & Mask Tool, you don’t have to use your hands, it’s a mess free application. The other side of the Pore Refining Brush & Mask Tool is a brush. This can be used after you’ve applied the mask onto the face. You just make circular movements on the face which gently removes the dirt and grease from the pores.
3. Illuminating eye cream
I’m usually not a person who uses eye creams on a day to day basis but I need to. I’m having days that I simply don’t put on make-up to work. But saying that, I also don’t want to look like a complete zombie. Whenever I use the Illuminating Eye Cream, I use it twice a day (morning & night). The cream is very lightweight and it absorbs right into your skin. I always see the difference after I’ve applied this cream under my eyes and on my eyelids. It really minimizes the dark circles under my eyes. The key ingredients of this product are Vitamin E, cucumber and jojoba.
4. Beautifully bare glow lotion
The Beautifully Bare Glow Lotion is really amazing. I didn’t really know what to expect but it does what it says. This is a moisturizer but it consists of Micro Shimmering Pearls to give you that beautiful glow. Unfortunately I don’t have the right color at the moment. The one that I have right now is the color Rose which has a pink-ish undertone, which would be perfect for ladies with a light complexion. You have this product also in the color Gold and I think this would have done it for me. I’m very happy that the shimmering pearls are very subtle but just enough to give that ”natural” glow and highlight. Even though the color is not the right shade for me I still use it sometimes just before I wear my foundation or if I don’t wear make-up at all. The cream nourishes and the key ingredients are Vitamin E, lemon, orange and grape extract.
